The Photo Archive collects photographs from the islands of Föhr and Amrum dating back to 1850.
It contains more than 100 000 photographs. The archive is split into the General Archive and the Ellerman-Archive. The general archive contains mainly old pictures, such as photographs of people, festivities and the villages. The Ellerman-Archive consists of photographs that have been passed on by the late Wilhelm Ellermann in 2002. He had worked for the local newspaper as a photographer for over 40 years. His legacy encompasses 80 000 negatives and has been digitalized entirely.
For legal reasons, only registered users are allowed to access the image databank. You can ask for an account by writing to this address.
